History and Archeology galore in an interesting building
Valutazione di TripAdvisorRivisto il May 4, 2019

Four stars mainly because those not interested in history and archeology might not find this museum to be as interesting as others. We found it to be great. It's free and in east Jerusalem. It's laid out in a pattern that follows the centuries and the explanations are good enough.

Old School

This is a very old school museum and not in great repair, but we liked it. Many archaeology treasures for people willing to look. Previous home to the Dead Sea Scrolls. Make it an adventure to find the museum from Old Town via the Damascus Gate. It sits high on a hill with a good view of the city. Free entry, but limited open hours. The afternoon we were there had very few visitors. it's large, but not gigantic. We spent about an hour. Had clean restrooms. Did not have onsite refreshments for sale. This building is clearly home to a large workforce, so don't be spoofed by all the cars in the parking lot. They are employees associated with archaeology and other matters that occur on the broader campus.
