Start your journey at the main point of interest – the Old City
For those of you coming by car, park at one of the 3 parking lots near Mamilla Boulevard and walk to the Jaffa Gate. Start your trip along the Southern Walls ramparts towards Dung Gate, admire the views from both sides of the walls, facing both the past and the present. If you have some extra time explore other points of interest at the Old City, all in close vicinity.
Your first stop
The City of David National Park is one of the most important historical sites in Jerusalem, located southeast of the Old City. It is the most important archaeological site in the Land of Israel in terms of Biblical importance where you can experience of visiting the city of kings and prophets, the place where some of the biblical books were written, and where most of the stories in biblical Jerusalem took place. Second stop at The Davidson Archaeological Park & The Western Wall
Located next to the Western Wall and on the southern side of the Old City and it is one of the largest archoological sites within the Old City. Its historical and archaeological importance and marvelous beauty will fascinate history lovers. The Davidson Center hosts exhibitions and discoveries from the First and Second Temples, such as the steps leading up to the Temple, an original street preserved from that period, shops, and baths. The Western Wall is the most significant site for the Jewish in the Old City. The Wall was one of the four supporting walls built around the Second Temple, in the first century BC. The stones are typical of construction in Herod's time. Visitors who visit the place usually put notes between the cracks of the stones of the Wall, containing inscriptions, requests, and prayers.
The visit to the Western Wall takes a maximum of one hour.
Near the Western Wall you will find The Chain of Generations Center which is a subterranean installation in the Western Wall area. It is a stunning and impressive masterpiece made of glass, incorporating unique lighting effects and special holograms in thousands of years-old archaeological spaces. Back towards Mamilla via the Old City
After spending some time in the holiest Old City, you’ve probably worked up some appetite. So, head backm from the Western wall via the Jewish or Christian Quarters towards Jaffa Gate.
