Jerusalem Grill

We were also lured in by the matre'd on the street. All typical Israeli dishes lined out table. There was a delicious soup ordered, "Jerusalem Grill" was enjoyed, schnitzel which is a simple dish and can be found anywhere. Had a tasting of different beers. Had the molten cake for dessert. Service was slow but food was tasty. Overall, we were quite happy with our experience. This was walking distance to our hotel and located in a nice safe area.

Bad: The food is average, we had a hummus which was correct and the recommended fish which was only ok and quite expensive, for the same money you have better fish options close; something we disliked is that they did not advise the recommnded house fish was salmon, we just trusted their advise, our mistake maybe. Bottled beers also over average price around. We will not repeat.

We recently had dinner at Alma on Yosef Rivlin in the New City area of Jerusalem and found this to be an ok restaurant. There is outdoor and indoor seating. You'll notice this restaurant as they have large pots of soup on display outside the entrance. Service is attentive and very friendly. They are a bit aggressive trying to entice you to eat at their restaurant but there are many places around so this is something to be expected. During our dinner we tried the hummus starter and a bowl of the sweet potato soup which were both fine, nothing memorable nor bad. For mains, we tried the lamb kebab that was very good. This was five large balls that were succulent and very flavourful, the best lamb kebab we had during this visit to Jerusalem. We also tried the their daily special which was a salmon fillet cooked in stew. This was an interesting if not somewhat awkward order. The salmon was nice but more enjoyable on its own without the stew. On the other hand, the stew was a nice medley of flavours. We enjoyed the vegetables and sauce on its own and with some of the rice served up with our kebab. In the end, we really liked the lamb kebab here but would probably pass on the other orders if we were to dine here again.
