I am a hamburger lover. Having growing up in the US and suffering through the horrible burgers in Israel during the 80s and 90s, I have truly benefited from the hamburger revolution in Israel over the past decade or so (despite the ridiculous prices). That being said, I have become picky. I hate Moses. I despise Agadir. I have never tasted a burger in Europe that actually deserves to be called a burger (well, maybe some in Amsterdam and Berlin, but they are few and far between). I long ago proclaimed the burger at Koya in Pardes Hanna as the best in Israel, and every time I go there (once every few years), I am satisfied. I like the (over expensive) burgers at Black and the fancy burger at Hudson is, indeed, very good. But most burgers I taste are just regular in my book. With that long intro, I can reveal that Burger Market shocked me. It was great! I didn't expect it, but the hamburger was just excellent. I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't try the fries - they looked really good (and very different), but the burger was just outstanding. Now, I know, that this will be a must-visit stop when I'm in Jerusalem. Thank you, Burger Market!

In recent years, the number of kosher burger places in Jerusalem has significantly grown. This is one of the latest entries and it was worth waiting for. The basic menu is cleverly simple - a burger, fries and beer all for NIS 55 (about $15). the burgers are grilled to order and come on a home made bun, with lettuce, tomato, onion and aoli - additions also available. Fries are either white or sweet potato and look like they are prepared with a vegetable peeler. A choice from three imported beers rounds out the meal. Service is quick and friendly, somewhat hectic at popular times. Put this place on your list, the food is great, the atmosphere is fun and the location, near the Machane Yehuda market is convenient. A great addition to the local culinary scene.

I had a burger, fries and a frosty beer for about $15. That is a good price in Jerusalem. the burger and fries were both very good. This was a great find for us.
