If you are traveling to Jerusalem, the old train station is a great place to visit. And if you are there, this is one or a number of restaurants there. We sat there yesterday with friends and had a great time. The noise from the station doesn't penetrate inside so you can have a conversation without yelling, the food is good and fresh. Service was very friendly but slightly slow, but I guess it's because the place was packed. I had the gnocchi and it was delicious, my wife and the apple crumble and our friends shared an eggplant.

Dined early in the evening before attending an event. Service was efficient and food was delicious. Good variety of dairy and fish dishes offered. Rustic atmosphere however very pleasant.

We found this restaurant after an exhaustive search on TA, since we were making these plans while still in the US. Hila, the manager, was so responsive to our questions, and worked with us to customize a great menu for our bar/bat mitzvah that was reasonably priced. Once we arrived in Israel, we visited the restaurant a couple of days prior to the event in order to check it out. We were not disappointed. The location is excellent, and there is even a free shuttle fro the First Station to the Kotel every 20 mins. This made it so easy for our guests to get to both the ceremony and the luncheon without having to hunt for parking. The First Station has a great vibe- lots of restaurants and carts selling jewelry, crafts, etc. A very nice place to walk around. The restaurant itself was charming: it was once the waiting area for the first train station, and the decor/space gave the air of a beautifully rustic cafe. Hila met us, and gave us a sampling of the various items we had planned on serving at the event, and then sat with us to review our feedback. We made some minimal changes, and she did not try to upsell us by suggesting to many items. She was honest about what our crows would probably enjoy, based on her experience. So friendly and polite. On the day of the event, we called once the ceremony was over to alert Hila that we were on our way, so that she could be ready for our guests. When we arrived, we were greeted by a couple of servers with trays of white wine with cherries at the bottom (didn't know that would be offered)! What a cool and refreshing way to start our meal after a hot morning at the Kotel! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the atmosphere light and fun, and the servers were attentive yet unobtrusive. At the end, coffee drinks were served in pretty glasses (again, did not realize this was part of the deal), which complimented the yummy dessert cart nicely. My guests are all Israeli, and what can I say- they were so impressed by the restaurant and the location, which is not an easy feat when dealing with the locals ;-). We are beyond thrilled with the service that Hila and her staff provided, especially since we started the arrangements from abroad, sight unseen. It could not have gone better, and my expectations were exceeded.
