I have eaten at this restaurant before but returned to Jerusalem with some different friends, so I went again. I was really pumped about coming back to this establishment as the last time was amazing. Having built the expectation amongst my friends, I can happily say that this time around was just as good. The service was excellent, despite it being crazy busy. The food arrived very promptly and was made to the highest standard. The hummus, tabouli and fried cauliflower were especially noteworthy. I had Algerian meatballs for mains and they were full of flavour. At the end of the night, the bill came and it was a very reasonable sum for the quality of the food we had eaten, plus a bottle of wine. NOTE: this restaurant is crazy busy. We made a booking and were glad we did.

We were on our way to Azura when we got a lost and stopped at a shop in Mahune Yehuda to ask directions. The clerk shrugged and said,"Azura?" with just enough attitude that I asked where she would go instead. She said Azura was good, but she liked Hamotzi better. Glad we listened. We were there for lunch and split the market salad --carrots, cucumber, fennel, cabbage and Italian parsley with fried cauliflower.... (so good it's the first thing I made when I got back in the US so I'd remember it) and an order of hummus and falafel. Of course we also tried some dessert-- way too tempting since huge platters were stacked on the bar. Plus the atmosphere was joyous. They were celebrating someone's birthday (wish my Hebrew was better-- maybe the chef's mom??) so free shots for the whole restaurant with lots of singing and clapping. A perfect afternoon.
