At Hatzot expect to be seated cheek by jowl with anyone and everyone. The place is packed like sardines and if you don't have a reservation (which most guests do not have) the wait can be long, pushy, sweaty and invasive to those already seated. Having said this, the young very local staff are mostly delightful and genuinely care that you enjoy your meal. Prio to your main course (and rather pricey for a downmarket venue and class) you can expect fresh from the over lafa bread and an array of appetizers and dips that will blow you away by their freshness, variety, and incredible taste And should you happen to demolish one or two, and desire a refill, no problem. The portions are truly generous, and the meat (don't even think of ordering a non-meat dish in this place)is superb and cooked right. My suggestion is to share the 330 gram entrecote steak with goose livers. It is more than enough for one person (especially after the complimentary starters) and the combination of the two outstanding meats is out of this world. Just don;t go alone. This is a meal to be shared, not one for the solitary.

We were here on a Thursday evening. The liveliest time of this typical Jerusalem area. Typical Israeli, kosher grill. The selection of small salads served together with a grilled meat plate of your choice at a convenient price and the lively atmosphere makes this place a very good choice to experience a typical local meal. The restaurant is hectic and noisy, but this is part of what it is meant to be.
