Very noisy restaurant, old tables and chairs, I was there with friends from the US and honestly felt embarrassed. food was good, but really not fair price, over expensive for what you get.

Machneyuda restaurant is named after the Mahane Yehuda marketplace in which it is located. It is a fairly new place, having opened in 2009, and so far it is booming success, garnering wall-to-wall praises in the media.
The restaurant was established by three well known Jerusalem chefs, Assaf Granit, Yossy Elad and Uri Navon, who joined forces to launch a place that serves joyful, modern Israeli cuisine. The restaurant is designed in a colorful, light fashion, and the menu changes daily in accordance with the marketplace inventory and the chefs’ moods. The kitchen is completely visible, allowing you to see how your food is being made. Fish, seafood and desserts are highly recommended. All the dishes are of the highest quality and not too pricey – around 80 ILS per dish.

It is crowded, colorful and smelly just as a market should be. Take the time to visit the market during the night and you will have a different scene altogether. Young crowd from the universities and just people who enjoy the vibe. It is a fun place to go to. Eat, drink , talk.

MoreFor years this restaurant consistently produced excellent dishes, a fun atmosphere, and some great chefs. Covid-19 couldn’t change all that. We had shared some great dishes such as the famous Polenta, excellent Calamari, but were disappointed with the meat skewer. It is served to table too hot to handle, even the waitress couldn’t handle it and left us to try in a few minutes. We were told in advance that the skewer will feature Entrecôte beef instead of fillet. But the beef was not top quality and it was still priced the same 136 ILS (expensive for one skewer).
