I really wanted to like this place. Tucked into a small street and with a small casual front lowered patio, Nagila seemed laid back and promising. Unfortunately - - I ordered the lentil soup. They were out. - I ordered the veggie stir fry. If you like your stir fry with 4 cups of rice to 1 cup of vegetables ratio, you are at the right place. I was hungry and ate the vegetables, and left 3.5 cups of rice. They reduced that dish by 13 percent and invited me to order something else off the menu at full price. - I had asked for tofu to be added to the veggie stir fry. This vegan place apparently has no tofu. - My friend’s dish arrived a good 5 minutes after I was done with mine. - I ordered an oat milk latte. They were out. - We asked for the bill. We were asked if we are in a hurry because food for a large party was just being served. Our waiter - a young man - was very nice and friendly. Management, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have this place in best running order. With more attention to detail I think it could be a good place. Next time I will go to the Ethiopian next door.

Small portions but good food

Pricy and small-ish portions but really good! Definitely a great vegan place. I got the curry which was really delicious. I was excited because it’s impossible to find curry in Jerusalem! I also got the barley drink. It was creamy and pretty good but not a ton of flavor.

Tasty food, small portions, slow service

We arrived for an early dinner (but too late for the lunch specials). The place was empty. It was clean and quiet with some background music piped in. There were some charming, romantic corners for people to sit with some sense of privacy (a rarity in most restaurants). Since we were the only people there we were surprised by the slow service. We clearly felt that we were bothering the waitresses conversation with the chef in the kitchen. She had trouble answering our questions about the menu but we figured it out ourselves. When we asked for the check, it took a long time and despite having my credit card already available, the waitress just down the check and left. After a few minutes ( and the place was empty) I just got up and brought the credit card to her. We ordered the Yamburger and the Moussaka. The first comes with a small side of sweet potato chips and lots of mayonnaise which I would have asked to hold had I known. The second comes with your choice of buckwheat or whole rice, I took the latter and felt it better complimented the dish. Both were tasty if small portions. Some effort was made to serve the dishes aesthetically however It took a long time for the food to be served and both were served tepid, not as piping hot as I would have liked. Normally I might have asked to have the food warmed up but they made a big deal of not having a microwave oven and I didnt want to wait another 15 minutes. Overall the food was ok, We considered the place to be Meh. We would not choose to run back but wouldnt avoid it either.
