Wonderful steak, with a good but not inexpensive wine list. The roasted pepper side dish was also done perfectly. I've had equally good steak at some (nonkosher) NY steakhouses, but none better. I'll be back next visit.

My friend got the pizza with pulled brisket and then we decided to get the New York pizza with grilled chicken breast and pastrami. Excellent service, very attentive. Sublime lemon meringue and hot chocolate fudge for dessert.

I had the pleasure of eating at the Red Heifer restaurant last night for the very first time and I have nothing but the highest recommendations. I belong to a study group--The Jerusalem Dental Forum--a large group of Jerusalem English speaking dentists that get together periodically for lectures in our profession. Last night we had a lecture at the restaurant followed by dinner. The food was delicious and plentiful. Appetizers were served first and included chicken wings, chummous, Grilled eggplant, a dish of chicken tenders and mixed vegetables, 3 different types of bread including this most tasty paper thin flat type of bread that we couldn't get enough of. We had two choices of main course. I chose the classic rib eye steak that came with a side of grilled vegetables. The steak was juicy, tender and deliciously spiced. Friends who chose the grilled chicken were equally as pleased. Hand cut fries and well as rice also accompanied the main course. Our waiter??? He just would not leave us alone!! Ever attentive, he was always available to refill our water carafes, clear up finished dishes, bring ketchup for the fries and bring extra food when requested, and constantly checking to see if things were ok The chef stopped by at each table to ask how we were enjoying our meal. His enthusiasm in his explanation of how and why meat is aged was fascinating and endearing. You could obviously see his passion for culinary art. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to both residents of and visitors to Jerusalem.

red heifer I'm glad that this was one of the last restaurants we visited while in Jerusalem because if I had to judge anybody by the food and service here, I wouldn't have gone anywhere else. The Red Heifer gets its name from was a cow brought to the priests as a sacrifice according to the Hebrew Bible, and its ashes were used for the ritual purification. Nothing else could be sacrificed until you first created a pure clean bed of red heifer ashes. Ok, very interesting. So we go into this beautiful, clean and highly upscale restaurant just around the corner from the Dan Panorama and the Imbal hotels. Beautiful artwork lines the walls, the room is nice and cool and our waiter extremely attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Also, the table covers were white paper with beautiful black and white artwork that I assume could be colored by children if someone felt the need to bring their children to such a high level establishment. We ordered an eggplant and hummus appetizer that was simply out of this world. Drinks arrived quickly and garlic bread that was not overpowering gave us something to nosh on while we looked over the wonderful menu. We ordered the salmon and small 350 gram Rib Eye - ith so many other steak choices, it was hard to make a decision. If you're looking for a great steak restaurant, this is it. My small Rib Eye was huge and accompanied by mashed potatoes and onions. Simply the best steak I've ever since arriving in Israel. My wife had her Rib Eye in a pomegranate reduction that was just fabulous. The salmon was cooked perfectly and we followed our dinner by splitting a lemon meringue desert that was sweet and delicious with coffee that just made me realize how important good service is to a meal. Five stars.
