Having just returned from dinner for 4 at Valero , I feel obligated to share my experience and give fair warning to others The restaurant prides itself in its "exclusive " wagyu beef and cuts. It prices the meats per portion of 100g I ordered a 300 cut of "wagyu" ribs and I also fancied a lamb chop - I specifically asked what the size of each cut was as the lamb was $20 for 100g or $200 a kg ! The waitress told mr that each chop was trimmed to 100g And I ordered 2 for $40 The food was presented and cooked well - the wagyu was a local interpretation and imitation and bore no resemblance to " wagyu" and it's unique taste I was served 1 chop - on a plate - nicely cooked medium but 25% fat. The meal in general was a success and passing on non Dairy deserts we asked for our bill. The bill was presented and after a quick check I commented that I had been charged for 2 lamb portions whilst only receiving 1. The waitress immediately said she would check and returned requesting I accompany her to the kitchen. I declined and asked her to charge the full amount plus 12% service , eager to leave I can find no better way of description other than the waitress forcefully pulled me from my table - in a friendly manner and insisted I come to the kitchen I again refused and again was forced from my chair Once escorted to the kitchen - I was attacked by 3 kitchen staff - a weight scale and pieces of raw meat ! They then told me that my chop was large and therefore I was charged for 2 !! Trying to prove it by waving raw chops loaded with fat in my face - in the middle of a crowded restaurant Absolute complete rubbish ! I received 1 piece of small lamb - not trimmed and not anywhere near 200g or $40. I then endured the most humiliating abuse from the kitchen staff , with the chef throwing the money telling me that my likes where not welcome !! I have been fortunate to travel extensively in my 50 yrs here , I have lived in London , NY , France and had the pleasure of a lamb chop or two , never have I been so shocked and disgusted by such a reaction. My claim/question was 100% justified , if the restaurant charges by the gram - don't do blatantly rip off your clientele. That's theft ! However good the food may be - Valero gets a fat ZERO got customer service and will not see any return business from myself Or my friend or family The owner/'management ruined a nice meal with friends The whole concept of customer service seems of no value to Valero who prefer to cheat a client and ruin his evening Well done Whilst my Rating is terrible as I am still shocked how I was treated - the food was good - overpriced but good Don't be tempted by the wagyu it's FAKE bred in the Golan

I chose this restaurant for a celebratory dinner for four of us. We made an early reservation to take advantage of the current offer of a 20% discount if one arrives before 8 PM. We were offered a choice of outdoor or indoor seating. Because of Corona we chose outdoors. The service was very attentive. The food was excellent. We had a mullard appetizer (pieces of grilled duck barest on a thin layer of mashed potatoes with a bit of a wine sauce as an appetizer. For main dishes we had (a) roast salmon, (b) filet of beef, (c) pargit (chicken thigh) with vegetables and (d) an asado sandwich. The salmon was very good. The filet was substantial and was the best meat I have eaten here since moving to Israel 3 years ago, It was accompanied by large pieces of fried potatoes with the skins on. Yummy! The pargit was good but my wife didn't care much for the vegetables. The sandwich was a huge roll filed with pulled beef in a mild but tasty sauce. Not exactly what one would call asado but tasty nevertheless. And a fine bottle of wine. All in all the restaurant deserved a rating of 5, which is what I gave it. But I do have a few quibbles that would be easy to correct. 1. The Hebrew menu had items on it (including the fillet and other cuts of beef) that were missing from the English menu. 2. The wine list we were give was a "wine of the month" list that contained a bunch of OK wines priced at about 2 1/2-3 times their price in the local supermarket. Not a great wine list for such a restaurant so I asked if they had a list of better wines. Oh, yes, they did, under a stack of papers. 3. At the end of the meal I mentioned this discount and they asked if I had a voucher. Happens that I did. But the discount was also mentioned on their website so a voucher shouldn't have been needed. So I'm coming to the conclusion that they may be giving a bit of a short shrift to their non-Hebrew speaking or otherwise not-so-aware customers. Hope I'm wrong about this.

Had an amazing dinner: appetizer-great mixed salad of greens, raddichio and nuts, mustard seed and honey dressing. Main: Roast beef with goose liver and onion jam. Cool atmosphere in the heart of Jerusalem.
